Regulation

• August 16 -- Bush
Deregulates As Iraq Burns
Joel Brinkley’s investigation on regulatory policy in the Bush administration
takes the liberal line: “Carl Pope, the executive director of the Sierra Club,
says he does not think the administration could have succeeded in rewriting so
many environmental rules, for example, if the public's attention had not been
focused on national security issues.”

• November 18 -- Uchitelle
Hits Damaging U.S. "Allegiance to Deregulation"
In the liberal American Prospect magazine, Times economic reporter Louis
Uchitelle praises a book by Clinton administration economist Joseph Stiglitz for
its bashing of Clinton policies from the left: "Stiglitz is particularly
good at describing the failure to strengthen government's hand in a market
economy."
• October 10 -- A Meaty Times
Debate
A front-page expose indicates the Times thinks E. coli in schools is a big
deal. Someone should tell food reporter Marion Burros, who seems more concerned
about phantom environmental dangers from irradiated meat.
