on missile defense, which features the eye-rolling tone the Times usually
employs when discussing the issue. The paper also quotes two unlabeled outside
experts from the same liberal defense group.
• May 4 -- “Star Wars” Graduates from “Misbegotten…National Fixation”
In today’s Science Times section, reporter James Glanz previewed “Star Wars: The Next Version.” Reagan’s “national fixation…which faded into the realm of misbegotten high-tech dreams,” is now becoming reality. Glanz balanced the piece with conservative missile-defense supporters and liberal critics, but labels were not applied.
