• September 20 -- LeDuff
on Rodney King: "Even Good Guys Make Mistakes."
Rodney King comes off more like Martin Luther King in a profile by Charlie
LeDuff.

• November 6 -- Schwarzenegger,
The Burning Man?
Charlie LeDuff interviews American Indians who suffered in the California
wildfires--and passes along anti-Schwarzenegger conspiracy-mongering. Was the
recall to blame for the fires?
• October 2 -- Injecting Race into
the California Recall
Charlie LeDuff attempts to make racial issues out of Schwarzenegger's most
popular stands: "In a sign of how racially divided California has become, Mr.
Schwarzenegger received a standing ovation on Wednesday when he said he would
not let stand a law recently signed by Mr. Davis that allows illegal immigrants
to hold California driver's licenses."
• September 29 -- California Needs
Higher Taxes, Part 1
Charlie LeDuff characterizes the campaign of Arnold Schwarzenegger (now
leading in the California governor’s race) as a feel-good exercise that ignores
the need for tax hikes: “Promising deliverance without sacrifice and a balanced
budget without tax increases…”
• August 8 -- Schwarzenegger,
“The Villain”
Charlie LeDuff’s piece on the California recall election brings up “tabloid
accounts of groping and boorish behavior on movie sets” against Arnold
Schwarzenegger, proving the Times has changed its tune on scandal-mongering
since Bill Clinton.
• August 1 -- Gross Generalizations
OK For Liberal Causes?
Danny Hakim takes a moralistic look at the popularity of pickup trucks: “The
trend toward bigger-than-ever pickups has broad implications for the safety of
American drivers, the environment, oil consumption and the financial health of
the auto industry.” He also generalizes about pickup truck drivers: “They tend
to drink more and use their seat belts less often, figures show.” Would the
Times let anyone else spread such stereotypes?
